Paint wicker furniture to change the color.
An artisan makes wicker by weaving vines, grasses and plants together. Using this method, he can make chairs, tables, headboards and any kind of furniture you can imagine. Wicker is popular because it is lightweight and durable. However, even with its durability, in time the paint begins to chip or flake or perhaps you will just want to change the color. Follow the appropriate steps to ensure no damage occurs to your furniture during this process.

Preparation
1. Lay a drop cloth in your workspace. Because you will spray paint the furniture, a space outdoors or in a garage with the door open could be ideal.
2. Remove any flaking paint by lightly scrubbing the surface of the furniture back and forth with a soft wire brush. Remove paint that is chipping or flaking in the crevices.
3. Clean the furniture with a sponge and soapy water. Rinse it with a water hose.
4. Allow the furniture to dry completely before proceeding to the next step.
Prime and Paint
5. Turn the furniture upside down and spray the primer on in a thin layer. Pay attention to the crevices. Spray the paint on from different angles to ensure good coverage. Use gentle sweeping motions to guide the paint bottle.
6. Turn the furniture right side up and repeat the priming process.
7. Apply at least two coats of primer to the item allowing 1 hour for the primer to dry between layers.
8. Use the same process to apply at least two coats of paint. Allow the paint to dry for at least 1 hour between coats.
9. Allow the paint to dry at least 24 hours before sitting on it.
