1. Decide on a headline for your ad. The headline is the first, and often only, thing a reader will see when glancing through newspaper ads. Your headline should be interesting and attention-grabbing. Try to appeal to the self-interest of readers by explaining the benefit of hiring you to clean their homes. Include something about how outsourcing their house-cleaning to you will improve their quality of life.
2. Include a picture in your newspaper ad. The picture should be placed toward the top of the ad. Try to choose something that's related to your cleaning business and that will catch the attention of readers, such as an amusing cartoon maid or a mop and bucket with cartoon smiling faces.
3. Add a sub-headline to your house-cleaning ad. This can relate to the types of services you offer. Once the reader is interested in the ad, she'll want to know what types of cleaning services you offer. List these services under your sub-headline in bulleted form. Be sure to include any cleaning services that separate you from your competition, such as laundry service or cleaning up after pets.
4. List your contact information at the bottom of the ad. At a minimum, this should include a phone number. But if space allows, include an e-mail address and website address if you have one.
