Use your computer to design a virtual kitchen
Getting an idea of what your new hickory cabinets will look like alongside your countertop, flooring and appliance colors is important. With today's technology, designing your virtual kitchen is just a few clicks away.
Instructions
1. Find a free 3D design planner on a website like merillat.com. Use its Design Wizard as a guest (for a one-time use) or register to save your work and come back to make changes later.
2. Select the layout of your kitchen: Is it a corridor/galley, one-wall, L-shaped or U-shaped kitchen?
3. Choose the type of hickory you want for your cabinets and select a door style. Remember that if you end up going with another manufacturer, it may not offer this exact wood species and door style.
4. Select a cabinet finish, like Hickory Natural for light wood species, or Hickory Cider for dark cabinets.
5. Choose your countertop style and color.
6. Select flooring style, either wood or tile, and choose a color.
7. Pick your preferred wall style--paint or wallpaper--and select color or pattern.
8. Finish and take a look at the results: Depending on the speed of your connection, it may take a while for the virtual kitchen to appear with your choices. Print or save the results.
Make modifications once it is saved, if desired. Other features include moving objects in the kitchen, adding things like rugs and lights, adjusting the walls, adding windows and doors and moving the camera view of the kitchen.
