Painting Suggestions For Frozen Treats Buggies

A plain looking cart doesn't attract as many customers as a fun painted one.

An ice cream cart-based business needs an eye-catching paint job to attract customers. A well-painted cart looks professional and can also be its own advertisement for what you sell. You can paint your cart yourself with paint made for use on metal from the hardware store to make the cart's paint job budget-friendly as well.

Logo Paint Job

Create a professional looking ice cream cart by painting the cart with your business's logo on it. Paint the whole cart a solid color that complements the primary color of your logo. For example, if your logo has a lot of blue in it, you may want to paint the cart orange. Paint the logo on in layers. Start by taping off the background and painting in that section. Let it dry and then apply the next layer. Taping off each part of the logo as you paint will help keep the edges looking clean. Once you have finished all the painting and the paint has had time to dry completely, cover it with a clear coat to finish it off and make the paint job shine.

Retro Two-Tone

Ice cream reminds people of simple times and family fun. Make your ice cream cart reflect this traditional idea with a two-tone, retro paint job. Paint the entire cart with the lighter of your two colors. White is great to pair with a creamy orange, pinkish red or sky blue. Allow 1 to 2 days for the base color to dry. Separate the body of the cart into two halves with painters tape and paint one half of the cart with the darker of your two colors. After allowing 1 to 2 days for drying, cover with a clear coat.

Patterns

Most ice cream carts look the same. Your ice cream cart can stand out from the crowd with fun patterns. Any type of pattern will look professional if done neatly, so choose a pattern that reflects the personality of your ice cream business. Plaids, checkers, stripes and diamonds are all examples of eye-catching patterns. Start by painting the cart with the main color of the pattern and then tape off the next layer. If you are doing stripes, you can tape off the entire pattern all at once, but something like a plaid design will require you to do the patterns in layers. Finish the paint job with a clear coat to seal in the paint and make it shine.

Solid Colors with Decals

One way to advertise the ice cream you sell is with the cart itself by affixing removable decals to your paint job. If you start with a base that makes the decals stand out, your customers can see what you have available from afar. Start with a solid color. Light orange, white or light red is subtle enough to not overpower decals but still look clean, professional and appetizing. After painting the entire cart, cover it with a clear coat. You can print your own custom decals so you can change the appearance of your cart every time you change your product.
