Common Interior Fresh paint Colors

Interior paints go in and out of style.

Most people have a favorite color, and favorite colors play a role in how the home interior is painted, which frequently is painted to create certain moods within the home. Those who are painting a home must examine the interior carefully to get a sense of the kind of mood they want to set. As of 2010, rich and saturated paint colors are the most popular paint colors to use in home interiors.

White

White is one of the most commonly used wall colors because white will adapt to almost any situation. White is also common in homes that are located in areas that have a lot of heat since white often increases the coolness of the rooms, resulting from the ability of white colors to reflect light. White tends to make rooms look larger too, which is helpful in enclosed spaces.

Brown and Gray

Those homeowners who do not want the room to appear larger often use brown, which makes larger spaces appear smaller. Another option that is a favorite in 2010 is slate or charcoal gray.

Red

Home painters often add other colors to their white paint so that they can have variety while also gaining the benefits of white, according to Happy News. Small touches of red are often added to certain areas as an accent color.

Blue

Those who do not like so much warmth and instead prefer coolness can add blue to the paint. The blue color is seen as soothing and calming. Some colors are popularly used in boys' and girls' rooms. For example, boys' rooms often have blue because blue is frequently associated with boys, according to Happy News.

Lavender

Girls rooms can include pink or purple, which are frequently associated with girls. Lavender is a common interior paint color choice because it is considered luxurious. Lavender is seen as a graceful and feminine color that combines well with pink, green and blue. Pink has fallen out of popularity.

Yellow

Currently yellow is considered the most popular color, according to Mike Morris, former editor in chief of Professional Remodeler. Yellow is seen as warm and nurturing and also as a color of enlightenment and innovation. Green is another favorite color that is often combined with yellow.
