Painting Suggestions For Contemporary Home

Use bold colors for a contemporary look.

Contemporary painting methods and colors have evolved to be bright and bold. Design schemes include bold wall colors, as well as one strong room color statement balanced with contemporary furnishings and accessories. The contemporary painting color palette is not just about primary colors; instead, it is a balanced combination of secondary colors as well.

Paint it Black

Black, like all colors, brings a mood and energy into a space. Black is very mysterious, and when done wrong, can look gothic and dark. But when used correctly, black is a contemporary home painting dream of sophistication and glamour. Pair this color with white to offset the dark and illuminate the color scheme by adding depth. Black pairs well with just about all the other colors on the color wheel. Combine with pink for a contemporary, quirky and glamourous feel.

Clashing Colors

Normally when the word "clashing" is used, you might want to steer away. However, painting contemporary treatments on walls can be a beautiful demonstration on how clashing colors actually work well together. Coral, salmon, raspberry and scarlet are all clashing colors found in the same color spectrum, but when worked into a geometric stencil or other wall treatments, they create exquisite contemporary painting results. Use a solid background on the wall, then incorporate the rest of the clashing colors into stencil designs, light fixtures, frames or any other wall treatment or accessory you would like to use.

Comtemporary Tiles

When other elements are incorporated in the overall painting scheme, the depth and texture of the wall comes to life. Contemporary elements, such as tiles ranging from mosaic styles to metal tiles, can be used alongside contemporary colors like black, white and brown. Luminous hand-glazed ceramic tiles are not the most budget-friendly elements, but will be sure to bring luxury to any room in your home and work great with contemporary painting colors. Paint the wall first. Then place the tiles at the top or bottom of the wall, or in some other creative pattern somewhere in the middle.
