Fresh paint Color Suggestions For Kitchen & Adjoining Dining Area

Create a kitchen dining area that is cozy for all.

In many homes, the kitchen and the dining room sit in close proximity to each other, allowing for dinner party hosts to easily transport food from one space to the other. If your dining room and kitchen are adjoining, selecting paint hues that complement each other well for these two spaces is an effective and aesthetically pleasing choice. By choosing your hues as a duo instead of in isolation, you can ensure that there is no apparent color clash as guests move from one space to the next.

Two Tans

If the pallet in your home is predominantly neutral, select hues for these rooms that follow suit. Choose two shades of tan to cover your kitchen and dining room walls. Pick a lighter tan for your kitchen, keeping this cabinet and appliance-filled space more open and airy. For your dining room, choose a darker hue, creating a warm and cozy space for dining with friends and family.

Rust and Mustard

For fans of a Southwestern-inspired pallet, the combination of rust and mustard is a wise choice. Paint your kitchen area a bold mustard hue, giving it a rich and full-bodied feel. For your dining room, use a bright rust color, hanging some Southwestern art featuring both of these hues in both spaces to reflect your inspiration and make your areas unified ones.

Gray and Crimson

If seeking a contemporary color combination option, try gray and crimson. Paint the walls in your kitchen crimson, adding fruit accents featuring bold reds, such as apples and cherries to tie the hue to food. In the dining room, feature gray, pairing the hue with a black table and chairs and using white table linen predominantly when hosting dinner parties.

Black and White

For a stark contrast, try a black and white color pallet. Start by painting one wall in your kitchen a bold black. In the dining room, select a dominant wall, and create a checkerboard pattern with tape, producing a tiled black and white accent wall to add excitement to the space. This selection is particularly appropriate if you have white or black cabinets and stainless steel appliances as the combination will set off these features effectively.
