Remove Gloss Paint From Clothing
Gloss paint can deliver an aesthetically pleasing affect on things it's intended to be on, but not so much on clothing. If gloss paint finds its way to clothing it can be more than just an irritant, but a seemingly permanent stain. There are several proven methods for removing paint from clothing, and the one that's best is the one that lifts paint and salvages the apparel.
Instructions
Several Simple Suggestions
1. Fill the sink with water and pour in 2 tablespoons each of salt, vinegar and ammonia. Set the stained clothing in the solution and leave them there overnight. In the morning, scrub the stained area with an old toothbrush or a nylon brush and launder as usual.
2. Spray the stain with WD-40 and allow it to sit on the garment for at least five minutes. Wipe the area with a clean cloth and repeat if necessary to remove the stain before laundering.
3. Saturate the stain in mineral oil and let it soak for at least 15 minutes. Scrub the area with a clean cloth and launder immediately.
4. Using a large pot, boil the garment with a scoop of laundry detergent for 10 minutes. Be sure to read the care instructions on the garments tag as some fabrics cannot endure high temperatures. Remove the garment carefully and scrub the area with a nylon brush to remove any lingering paint and launder as usual.
5. Scrub the area with a clean cloth dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Add more of the isopropyl alcohol as needed and launder as usual once the stain is gone.
