Make Your Own Paint Brush Cleaner
When you tackle a household painting project, the clean up is probably the worst part. Climbing ladders, taping and painting are all the easy parts. I hate the smell of those harsh chemicals used to clean the paint brushes, not only are they offensive to the nose, but they are toxic and bad for the environment. There is an easier way to get paint brushes clean without all the chemicals.
Instructions
1. Prepare your paint brushes before you even begin your painting project. Soak your paint brush in Linseed Oil for about 24 hours before using it. This will make clean up later much easier. Linseed Oil is available at hardware stores and home improvement stores.
2. To clean your paint brushes remove as much excess paint as possible. Wipe paint brushes on a rag until you have removed any extra paint from the brush.
3. Mix your paint brush cleaner. In a bucket mix 2 cups of baking soda, 1 cup of white vinegar, 4 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol and 1 gallon of cool water. You probably already have all of these ingredients in your house.
4. Place paint brushes in mixture and let soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Remove from the bucket, rinse with cool water and shake off any excess water.
