Home Crafts Party Business

With a home craft party, you make money doing something you enjoy.

If you're crafty and you like working with your hands, then home craft parties might be the right choice for you. The parties are hosted in your own home or at the home of another host and you sell crafts and other goodies that you make. Unlike other home businesses where you earn a percentage of your sales, a home craft party puts the money back in your pocket. With home business party crafts, everything above your costs is pure profit.

Sewing Craft Party

A sewing craft party offers items for sale that you make by hand sewing or using a sewing machine. You have the option of creating a niche for yourself and specializing on a specific type of product, such as quilts and bed linens. Have a few examples of your work on hand, with prices clearly attached. Create a list of custom pieces you can make for shoppers and list prices for those as well. Alternatively, offer different types of products, including clothing, tote bags and dolls or hand-sewn toys for kids. Create a swatch book, which shows the different types of material you have on hand and the material you have available, such as swatches from local fabric stores.

Holiday Crafts Party

Holiday crafts are a year-round business because as soon as one holiday passes, another is on the horizon. You may find that you have the best luck during the winter and fall seasons, when customers are looking for Christmas gifts and items to display around their own homes. Create a wide range of pieces, such as ornaments, door hangings, wall decorations and pot holders. You can even offer discounted prices and sales during the off-season, with your leftover or remaining stock. During the summer, host parties at your own home, where holiday crafts are half-price. You might be surprised at the number of people willing to stock up when the prices are lower.

Make Your Own Party

Market lessons to friends, relatives, coworkers, neighbors and friends of friends. Teach the group something you're good at, such as quilting, basket making or pottery painting. At the party, you give a short lesson explaining make the craft. Each guest then receives a basket that includes everything they need, to make the same craft. You're on hand, to help them figure out the intricacies and work on their own version. Customers get your knowledge and expertise, as well as a gift to take home after the party.
