Redesign The Outdoors Of The House

When remodeling the exterior of your home, consider all your painting options.

When deciding on what to remodel on the exterior of your home, take into consideration the financial costs associated with every single item you remodel. Remodeling the exterior of a home does not have to cost a small fortune. A coat of fresh paint immediately changes the exterior of your home. If your lawn contains numerous items, cleaning it can provide instant curb appeal to your home. Consider projects for yourself instead of hiring contractors.

Instructions

1. Walk around the exterior of your home and pretend you do not live there. This allows you to see your home from a stranger's point of view. Write down the items you need to remodel to give the exterior of your home curb appeal. Once you have your list, consider the finances involved and implement the items you can without having to obtain financing, unless of course you wish to do so.

2. Consider a different color scheme for the exterior of your home. Perhaps your home currently has a color scheme of white and green. Change this for a dramatic effect. Consider possibly a tan as your base color and a red wine for your accent color. The key is to choose a light color and a dark color that complement one another.

3. Call roofing professionals in your area to obtain a quote on reroofing your home. Updating your roof provides visual appeal to your home as well as protection from the elements. Decide between a shingled roof and a metal roof. If the quote you obtain is satisfactory, schedule an appointment for your roof.

4. Purchase your painting materials from your local hardware store. Make sure that you purchase exterior home paint and not interior. Typically, a home's color theme consists of two or three colors.

5. Paint your window trim or shutters, and then paint the outside of your front door. When the paint is dry, paint the remainder of your home the primary color you purchased.

6. Paint your deck or porch.

7. Remove clutter from your deck, porch and landscaping. Clear all seasonal items and broken items from those areas. An uncluttered area appears larger and is more appealing to the eye.
