You desire that your home has a look of its own. Every house needs a rug, but you do not want one that every one else has. Instructions
Preparing your canvas
1. Put your gloves on and take a roller and white paint. Paint the entire canvas white. Allow it to dry overnight
2. Hem your canvas by turning in 2 inches all the way around. Sew the hem in place
3. Take your ruler and measure a 3 inch border on all four sides of the canvas,
4. Create a checkerboard pattern on your canvas by drawing a series of 9 inch squares inside of the border. Use the Straightedge to mark your pencil lines.
5. Put your straight edge, pencil and tape measure away. Take your 2 inch brush and black paint. Paint every other square black. Allow the black paint to dry completely.
6. After checking if the paint has dried, then you can start your decorations. Use the 1 inch brush , take the white paint and in each of the black squares you will be painting a free hand wavy line, it will look like a very elongated "S". Paint three in a row and make two rows. Repeat this design in each of the black squares. Alternate your color for the white background squares, use the black paint to freehand wavy lines that look like an elongated "S", paint three in a row and two rows. You will have white "S" on black background, and black "S" on white background. Allow all the paint to dry
7. Take you gold paint pen and outline each square. Allow the gold paint to dry.
Glazing your African Mudcloth Floorcloth
8. Mix in a bowl, a dark brown glaze 1 to 1 ratio, 1 part medium and an equal part tint.
9. Take your 4 inch bristle brush and brush the glaze over each square.
10. Use the cheesecloth to dab the surface softening the and blending the glaze. continue to use the cheesecloth until you have removed most of the glaze.
11. Using the foam roller, open the acrylic polyurethane and apply a coat onto the floor cloth. Allow the first coat to dry completely. Apply a second coat to the floor cloth.
12. Allow to dry then you can lay down your African Mud cloth.
