Painting games for kids teaches art and mechanical skills.
Playing painting games is a fun activity for children and helps them to learn art and painting skills. Painting games can be played at birthday parties, school activities, days at home and at day care. Integrating paint with other learning skills such as math or social interaction is sure to inspire most kids to want to learn more.
Sidewalk Chalk
Painting and drawing on the sidewalk with chalk is a classic kids activity. Chalk games provide entertainment during kids birthday parties and pool get-togethers. Transform the sidewalk or driveway into hours of entertainment with only chalk, one or two balls and kids ready to color and play. Pictures, hopscotch and foursquare courts are only a few options for sidewalk chalk game possibilities. Add a mathematical twist by playing "add the math hopscotch." You just need chalk and stones. Draw the hopscotch to resemble a calculator; players must jump to equations that you tell them. Other chalk games are Driveway Baseball and Tic Tac Toe.
Large Group Mural
Painting or building a large group mural is ideal for a large and organized birthday party, school class or large student body project. For birthday parties, a relatively easy mural kids game is to have each child paint a four-inch by four-inch black piece of paper with provided paint materials. At the end of the party, collect all the pieces and staple or glue to a large piece of construction paper. Hang in the birthday boy or girl's room for a fun memory from the party. Another fun activity is to let the children explore different methods of painting. Provide the children with paint, crayons, markers, different size paint brushes, sponges and even stickers. This can get messy so dress the kids in old clothes and choose a location accordingly.
Paint by Numbers
Make a game out of the classic children's painting activity, Paint by Numbers. It is ideal for a party or larger group of kids. Provide each child with Paint by Number pages and all the needed paint colors. Have groups of three or four players match off to see who can paint the fastest and stay within the lines. After each group has played, all of the winning players must face off to see who is the fastest and most accurate individual painter.
