Colors popular for home decorating come and go just as popular colors for clothes and accessories come and go. Thankfully, home decorating colors tend to remain popular for a bit longer than fashionable colors for clothes and apparel.
Neutral Tones
Shades of green and gray are now considered neutrals, along with shades of tan, brown and beige. Black and white continue to be included as neutral colors, according to Your Decorating Hotline. All shades of gray are currently popular for use as neutral tones.
Jewel Tones
Jewel tones, part of the global palette popular in recent years, are currently popular. Representing purple amethysts, blue sapphires, red rubies and delicate brown topaz, these tones are at the deep end of the jewel-tone color spectrum, rather than the clear, vibrant jewel tones popular in recent years.
Bold Tones
Pairing colors not usually used together, bold tones feature pairings of bright orange, bright blue and neutral browns to calm the combination. Other neutrals are paired with bright, bold tones to make the combination a little easier on the psyche.
Earth Tones
Calming golds, muted oranges, tomato red, shades of brown and olive green are earth tones that have been standards for decades. They are popular again, but with a twist: Bright earth tones are paired with more muted earth tones for a sophisticated, updated look.
