Ohio Condition Room Design Ideas

The Buckeye state is known for its passionate love for all things Ohio State University-related.

You bleed scarlet and gray; you can't leave someone hanging when he screams "O-H!" without replying "I-O!"; and you most certainly know that maize and blue are the ugliest colors in all of college sports. You are a die-hard Ohio State Buckeye fan and you are proud to admit it to anyone and everyone. Show off your school spirit by decorating in true Buckeye style. Creatively display your Ohio State pride---and make fellow Buckeye fans scarlet and gray with envy.

Ohio State Bathroom

Who says that Buckeye spirit can't carry over into the bathroom? Decorate your guest bathroom (or whichever bathroom is closest to where you and your buddies watch the big games) in a manner that would make Woody Hayes proud. If you have a small bathroom, stick to a light color---dark colors tend to make rooms look even smaller than they are---such as white or a shade of gray similar to Ohio State football helmets. Horizontally along the walls, going as far around the bathroom as you can, paint a thick red line inside a white line, bordered by thin black lines, representing the stripe on the football helmets. For added flair, paint little Buckeye sticker replicas (buckeye leaves inside white circles) just like the player's receive for achievements on the field. If you have a tile floor, consider putting down a rug that looks like the Ohio State football field. Hang random Buckeye memorabilia from the walls and do not forget the most important part of an Ohio State-themed bathroom: University of Michigan toilet paper. You surely will get some small satisfaction in flushing down those pesky Wolverines.

Ohio State Recreation Room

A decked-out scarlet and gray rec-room is the key to making your home the place to be on game day. Splurge on scarlet or red-hued couches that recline. Invest in one or two matching reclining chairs, as well, preferably with cup holders in the arms. For those artistically inclined, paint a mural of Ohio Stadium or the Schottenstein Center filled with Buckeye appropriately clad in scarlet and gray. For a simpler effect, paint the walls gray, paint the trim white and hang various Ohio State memorabilia in black frames with scarlet matting. Consistency is the key to achieving an elegant look, so make sure you use similar frames and a consistent color pattern. If your room is large enough, purchase a pool table covered with scarlet felt and hang an Ohio State-themed pool table light above. Adorn the walls with a neon Ohio State clock or neon sign, which will wow your friends and provide a cool scarlet/gray glow during the games.

Ohio State Bedroom

If you know your child is destined to follow in your Ohio State footsteps one day, design his room to reflect the ultimate in Buckeye pride. Paint the walls scarlet with white trim, your child's name in white script similar to the font the Buckeye band uses to form "OHIO" during its famous dotting-the-i routine. White wooden furniture is a perfect accent to the scarlet walls, and either neutral carpet or a gray rug for the floor. Select a Buckeye bedspread, of which there are many to choose from. No child's room would be complete without a stuffed Brutus, the Ohio State mascot. Take your child's love of Brutus one step further by investing in a life-size cardboard cutout of the nutty creature to decorate one corner of the room. Stuffed basketballs and footballs can complete the look. As your child grows, you can begin a collection of autographed helmets, posters and jerseys.
