Make Awesome Flyers

Flyers are extremely useful in many situations. They serve as great low-cost marketing tools and make it easy to distribute announcements or invitations. No matter what you are trying to announce, it's important that your flyer stands out. For a really cool flyer, color is essential because it can be the one thing that makes the flyer pop. Instead of creating multiple flyers, it's better to focus all your attention on one flyer before color copying multiple flyers and handing them out.

Instructions

1. Take a piece of watercolor paper and use scissors to cut it to the size you'd like the flyers to be. Use a clean paintbrush to apply plain water over the piece of watercolor paper.

2. While the paper is still wet, dip the paintbrush into a watercolor paint of your choice and lightly drag the brush across the wet paper. This technique is called wet-into-wet and will cause the color to spread around the page in a bleeding fashion. Keep adding different colors to the wet paper, allowing them to join and blend together naturally. You can choose to wisp the brush around to create a fuzzy swirl shape or just use different lines or dots. Either way, continue the wet-into-wet technique until there is no white left on the watercolor paper. Allow it to completely dry.

3. Write the title of the event or announcement in big, readable bubble letters on the top of the page using an ink pen. You can choose to color in the letters or leave them as simple outlines. Add any additional necessary information in an organized manner underneath the title. Use bullets to separate lines and make sure the handwriting is legible.

4. Decorate the border of the flyer with multi-colored markers or the ink pen, using the dried watercolor as a starting point. You can accent parts of the watercolor or draw designs that are filled in with the color of the watercolor. If using any photographs, cut them to size and glue them to the flyer.

5. Take the final product and scan it into your computer before printing as many copies as you'd like in full color. If you don't have a scanner and/or color printer, you can take the flyer to your local copy shop and order as many color copies as necessary. Use scissors to cut away any excess white space that is left over on the final copies.
