It is probably not as time consuming as you may think to repair areas on your walls where the paint is nicked. Whether the paint was damaged by hitting it with a door or hanging a picture, you don't have to repaint the entire area to repair the paint nicks. Use the right products and methods to repair paint nicks properly, and the spots will blend in perfectly.
Instructions
1. Scrape away any loose paint surrounding the nick. Use a putty knife to scrape the paint. Scrape off only the loose and chipping paint from the area.
2. Dip a putty knife into a bucket of Spackle. Spread the Spackle onto the nicked area of the paint. Run the putty knife back and forth over the area, applying moderate pressure, to force the Spackle into the nick. Scrape away excess Spackle with the putty knife.
3. Allow the Spackle to dry completely, according to the manufacturer's instructions, then sand the area with a 220-grit sanding block to smooth out the spot.
4. Wipe away any residue with a damp rag. Repaint the spot with the matching paint color.
