Gold and silver add new sparkling dimensions to last year's tired decorations.
If you are decorating for Christmas on a budget but do not want your decor to be the same as last year's, consider investing in gold ... spray paint, that is. With just one or two cans of gold and silver spray paint, you can completely alter the look of last year's decorations and give your Yuletide decorations a new, elegant twist.
Instructions
1. Set up to spray paint. If possible, you should do this outside. If it is too cold, work in a garage or other area that can be opened up for ventilation. Spread out the newspapers, and make sure that all items are positioned so that you can spray them from all sides for full coverage.
2. Sprinkle anything that you think needs some extra sparkle with the opalescent glitter. The glitter will stick to the paint as it dries, giving you a snow-kissed result.
3. Use gold and silver pine cones for holiday baskets and centerpieces. With a few sprigs of natural greenery for contrast, your shiny pine cones will gleam like treasure.
4. Set up the tea lights and spray-painted shells for a surprising holiday accent in bathrooms on the mantle. The shells are a sweet seasonal twist and look festive painted silver and gold. Set them up on a glass tray with a few accent candles or silver bells.
5. Paint your windows. Add 1 tsp. of liquid dish soap to acrylic paint. Sponge paint snowflakes on your windows. The season shine will come off with regular window cleaner.
6. Dress up wreaths with gold and silver poinsettia sprigs. Use "glammed-up" poinsettia branches to add sparkle and life to old wreaths. Not only will they make the wreaths look fuller and fresher, but you will feel like you have a brand new decoration on your door.
