Wall Works of art Which Go With Wenge Furniture

Wenge furniture, pronounced "wengay," is a wood derived from tropical timber of the wenge tree from Africa. This is a very dark and dense wood with a coarse grain and a pattern of nearly black grains separated by dark brown grains. Some wooden furnishings are not pure Wenge but rather have a Wenge Finish. This is the application of rich brown color with copper accents.

Brown-Hued Classic Images

Classic landscape images with brown, cream and sepia colors used throughout work well with the dark tones of Wenge furnishings. Add three wall paintings in a smaller size or add a large painting.

Abstract Contemporary Work

An abstract piece contemporary wall painting is another suitable pairing for a room filled with Wenge furniture. Bright primary colors or a mix of teal, purple and orange weave well together and provide a strong display of color against the grains of the Wenge or Wenge-look furnishings. Stainless steel contemporary frames are the perfect way of framing a piece of abstract art in a room with dark wood. A mirrored frame is an art-deco option.

Romantic Imagery in Soft Colors

Romantic imagery in soft pastels also work well with dark furnishings like Wenge styles. Pastels on canvas, without a frame, are an ideal blend and so are pastel images framed in ornate or brass-trimmed frames. Thick white or cream matte and a dark frame also work with romantic images.

Imported Art

Given the African roots of Wenge furnishings, imported art from Africa is an ideal match for Wenge furnishings. African landscapes, contemporary art, or historic pieces hung on the walls bring your African-inspired furnishings to another place and time.
