Neopets have two kinds of pets involved in their online games, the Neopet and the petpet. Neopets are avatars that you care for and can play with while on the site. For every game you and your Neopet play, you're awarded Neopoints, the currency used on Neopets, based on your performance. Petpets, however, are small pets used to keep your Neopet company while you're away. Think of them as stuffed animals or a much-loved blanket. Just like you can repaint your Neopet with paint brushes, you may do the same for your petpets.
Instructions
1. Log into Neopets using your email address and password, if you haven't done so already. Pick the Neopet you'd like to play with and head out into the gaming room when you're ready.
2. Pick a few games you'd like to play that award a fair amount of Neopoints. The cost of petpet brushes range from 4,000 Neopoints to over 1 million Neopoints, depending on the colors you plan on using. You can check on the costs by visiting one of the stores in town.
3. Visit the Petpet Puddle page by typing "neopets.com/petpetpuddle.phtml" into your browser's address bar. On this page, you can see what colors are available for every petpet. Find the petpet you're thinking of painting to get an idea of how much the paint will cost and what colors you can use on it. Nothing's worse than saving enough Neopoints for a high-quality brush only to find that you cannot use it on your favorite petpet.
4. Purchase petpet brushes by visiting the shop wizard, trading post or auction house. You can get to these quickly by clicking on the "Shops" link at the top of the page and then selecting the type of shop you'd like to make a purchase from.
5. Return to the Petpet Puddle page once you're finished making your purchase. To get there inside the game, you can either type in the web address mentioned before, or from Neopia Central follow the rainbow to the Rainbow Pools. Once there, click on either the link at the top of the page or the puddle that says "Petpet Puddle" when you scroll over it with your mouse. Make sure this is what you want to do before buying them, snce you cannot get those Neopoints back.
6. Select the petpet you'd like to paint from the drop-down menu and then the paintbrush you'd like to use on him. After painting your petpet, you may return to your game. He'll keep the colors you've chosen until you decide to change or repaint him later on.
