Reading a paint fan deck just requires a little knowledge.
Paint fan decks are small books that present samples of all the available colors available through each specific paint manufacturer. To many, they appear as only a random sampling of related colors. However, there actually is a system and a method to them that helps to assist customer service representatives at paint and home improvement stores when the time comes for mixing.
If you need to read a paint fan deck, you shouldn't have too much trouble once you understand the basics of how it's organized.
Instructions
1. Open the paint fan deck to the first page to view a list of all the available paint colors listed in alphabetical order, a color's reference number, its location page on the fan deck, and the light reflective value or LRV.
2. Locate the specific color of paint you'd like to look up and turn to that page. Hold the paint fan deck so the spiral binding is at you chest.
3. Locate the color square at the bottom of the page for the root or base color. Note that every color square above this square (vertically, moving up) is a variation of this root color and is created by adding a specific amount of white.
