Fresh paint Supplies Record

Paint supplies.

Painting requires a lot of tools. Having the right tools and supplies will allow you to get a professional looking paint job. Plan ahead before you start painting your home. This will allow you to pick up the right tools so you can have them on hand.

Drop Cloth

Paint can be messy. One of the most important tools you can have when you begin painting is a drop cloth. Drop cloths can be made of plastic or cloth. A drop cloth will protect your flooring and furniture from paint drips and splatters. Place the cloth under the wall where you are painting. If you leave the furniture in the room you are painting, move it to the center of the room and cover it with a drop cloth.

Painter's Tape

While not all painters like to use painter's tape, amateur painters should almost always use it when they begin painting a room. Simply unroll the tape and place it over electrical outlets, windows, or along the ceiling and wall border. Once you have finished painting the room, remove the tape from the walls and ceiling.

Paintbrushes

When you paint a room, you need a paintbrush. Opt for high quality synthetic paintbrushes with a 2 1/2inch angled tip. The angle on the brush will help you paint straight lines along ceilings and moldings. Cheap throw-away brushes can be used for touch up work after you have finished painting.

Paint Roller and Extender

A paint roller will allow you to paint a room quickly. High nap paint rollers work well for highly textured walls and ceilings while lower nap rollers work for smoother walls. A roller extender will allow you to paint high walls and ceilings without climbing a ladder.

Bucket, Paint Tray and Paint Sticks

A bucket and paint tray will help you carry the paint along with you as you paint the room. Small buckets work perfectly for brush work in corners and on molding. Similarly, a paint tray is necessary if you are going to use a roller to paint the room. Paint sticks make it easy to stir the paint after it has settled in the can.
