Orks are a type of mythological being made famous in J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings novel series. The ork he described was short, wide, rather stupid and usually a bad guy. After the book series became popular, orks became a part of the pantheon of mythological creatures. This eventually led to miniature orks models or figure pieces made of pewter or plastic and used in three-dimensional board games. Painting orks is now part of gaming.
Instructions
1. Remove the ork from the package. Remove burrs, seams and any extra material using an artist's knife. File with jeweler files to smooth out tiny areas.
2. Glue the figure to the base with superglue. Add any extra guns, weapons or accessories at the same time.
3. Primer the ork with black or white acrylic paint. If you use black primer, the character will have a darker overall appearance, which may be what you want if that character is working for the evil side in the game. If you use white primer, the colors you paint on top will be brighter or more suitable for the good side in the game. Allow the primer to dry for one hour.
4. Paint the ork flesh and hair next. You will detail and highlight both areas later.
5. Paint metallics on guns, armor and other weapons. Paint the clothing last. Often orks are part of an army and there will be army colors that are the same from ork to ork. Finish with a very small detail brush and add face features, shadows, toning and other small details.
