Decorate Sunday School Courses Of Instruction For Teen Women

Create a Sunday school space just for teen girls.

Today's teenage girl lives in a fast-paced and visually stimulating environment. You can decorate a Sunday school classroom with contemporary teen girl's interests in mind. Although particularly worldly trappings--- sultry posed movie-star posters and dark, goth-culture-inspired decor are inappropriate for church, make the space one that appeals to modern young ladies. You can create a classroom look that makes teen girls comfortable, yet won't bewilder older congregants. Make the space relaxing and welcoming so girls feel connected to the room and will want to come back.

Instructions

1. Paint the classroom walls in bright, teenage-girl-pleasing colors using interior house paint. Apply one color to all the walls or select a different color for each wall. Choose hot pink, turquoise or purple. Ask girls who are enrolled in the Sunday school class to help choose the colors and paint the walls.

2. Set two or three lamps on tables around the classroom to create a cozy atmosphere. Choose lamps with sequined or painted shades to appeal to teen girls. Buy the highest wattage light-bulbs that are safe for the lamps. Use the lamps instead of overhead lights during Sunday school.

3. Hang strings of clear Christmas lights along the tops of the walls of the room. Buy a large potted plant, real or silk, and wrap it in the lights. During the holiday season, remove the clear lights and replace them with red and green lights to decorate the girl's Sunday school classroom for Christmas.

4. Place bean bag chairs in the classroom to give it an informal tone. Get bean bag chairs in colors that compliment the freshly painted walls. If tables and chairs are already in the Sunday school room, arrange the beanbags in an out-of-the-way area of the room for small-group bible study or conversations.

5. Decorate the walls with posters of female faith-based recording artists. Buy the posters at a music store or where religious books and posters are sold. Call local Christian radio stations to inquire about promotional posters they may be able to donate to the girl's Sunday school class.

6. Place a bulletin board on one of the walls of the Sunday school classroom. Ask the teen girls who attend the class to bring pictures of themselves to hang on the board. Take pictures of the girls during Sunday school and other church-related activities to place on the board.

7. Hang a poster-size tablet of chart paper, available where teachers supplies are sold, on one of the classroom walls. Set a box of markers nearby. Encourage the girls to write inspirational messages of faith on the chart and fill it with drawings each week before or during Sunday school.
