Link uses a sword to battle enemies in the Legend of Zelda.
"The Legend of Zelda" is a fantasy action adventure game published by Nintendo. In the game, you play as a boy named Link who makes his way through tunnels, graveyards, plains, deserts and forests in a quest to find Death Mountain and rescue Princess Zelda. A variety of hints are available that may assist you on your journey.
Get More Money
There are three ways to gain extra money in the game. In the beginning of the game, enter the house with the wondering young lady. Pull on the painting on the back wall and hold it until coins pop out. Visit the desert of Mystery, in the area where the second pendant is obtained. Look for the two large rocks in the area where the Power Gloves were found. Pick up the second rock and go down the steps. There are five coins under each pot. You can exit the area, and re-enter to obtain more coins. The Turtle Rock in the Dark World will also give you coins if you pull on its right paw.
Get the Red Shield
Players assume the only way to get a red shield is through Dark World, but this is not true. After you complete the quest to get Zora's Flippers, visit the Mysterious Pond located behind the waterfall. Throw in your small shield. A fairy asks if the shield is yours. Answering "Yes" results in the fairy giving you a red shield.
Seven Crystals
To get all seven crystals, enter the Dark World. Get the hammer from the Palace of Darkness, the hook shot from the Water Palace, the Titan's mitt from the Town Palace and the cane from Misery Mire. Holding these items, visit Turtle Rock to complete your quest. You are rewarded with all seven crystals.
Unlimited Fairies
After you obtain the Glove of Power, which gives you rock lifting ability, you can get unlimited fairies. At Link's house go one screen west. Cut any bushes out of your way. When you reach the ledge, jump off the northern tip and continue walking north. When you see the large rock, pick it up with your Glove of Power and throw it. Enter the passageway. Inside the passage are four fairies who can heal you, or you can catch them with your bug catcher. Exit and return to find four more fairies.
Exiting Closed Rooms
Sometimes you enter a room and the door closes. Don't panic. There are various ways to open the door. If there are enemies in the room, destroy each one and the door might automatically open. Look for switches. Switches may be on the floor or under jars and skulls. Lift up items and look under them. Wall levers might also open closed doors.
