Surface preparation is the key when using Daybreak-colored paint.
Daybreak is a light-colored greenish-based latex interior paint from Sherwin-Williams. When you want to paint Daybreak onto an interior wall or ceiling, there are some specific steps that must be taken to assure that the paint will look its best. Because it is such a light-colored paint to begin with, it will have difficulty covering a darker surface by itself. Therefore, surface preparation for painting Daybreak is the key to successful application.
Instructions
1. Open a can of latex primer and pour a small amount of Daybreak paint into it. Mix it thoroughly with a mixing stick. This small step will enhance the covering properties of the primer, tinting it towards and complementing the color of the Daybreak paint.
2. Tape off window and doorway sills, lay down a protective sheet of plastic or canvas over the floor, and remove all light switch covers and outlet covers.
3. Prime the surface to be painted using the tinted latex based primer. Priming the surface first will cover up the old paint to let the true color of Daybreak paint come through. Pour primer into a rolling pan, or dip a paintbrush into the can, and completely cover the surface to be painted. Allow the primer to dry completely.
4. Paint the surface with Daybreak paint. Use a roller and pan, a brush, or any suitable method that you choose.
