A floor fan will increase paint dry times.
Paint dries fastest when air humidity is less than 50 percent and temperatures are between 70 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Paints are formulated to cure between this temperature range so that the bonding properties of the paint molecules adhere properly to the painted surface. This drying or curing process can be sped up by blowing air on the painted surface and painting during the driest times of the day. 10 in the morning to 3 in the afternoon is the time slot between the daily dew points. The amount of time it takes the paint to dry will also depend on the shine of the paint. Flat, eggshell and satin paints take less time to dry than semigloss and high-gloss paints.
Instructions
1. Run your fingers through the grass in the yard; if you find no moisture on your fingertips, it's dry enough to paint.
2. Open all the doors and windows in the house if you're painting indoors.
3. Paint the exterior or interior of the home.
4. Turn on all ceiling fans and set up a floor fan in every room in the house. Place large floor fans or box fans facing the walls if you're painting outside, unless there's enough breeze that a fan would be redundant.
5. Place a thermometer in each room to regulate the indoor temperatures. Check them regularly to ensure the temperature is between 70 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Turn the home thermostat up to maintain this temperature. Set a space heater in each room if needed.
