Fresh paint Suggestions For Public Structures

Paint a mural on the outside of a public building.

Public buildings, whether places that are publicly owned or just places that are seen by the public, should be painted to draw people in and reflect the nature of the building. For example, a kids' center does not need to look as polished on the outside as a medical facility, but it should look fun and welcoming. If the building is in an artistic part of town, then it should look a bit more artistic.

Mural

Murals are a decorative way to paint a public building. This can be done by local artists or by professionals. For example, the Long Beach Convention Center in California is decorated with a mural of whales, done by famous marine artist Wyland. If you have a center for kids, they can join in to help you paint the wall too. For example, have local artists paint it, and then the kids can put their hand prints in a designated area.

Bright Colors

Paint the building bright colors so that it stands out. If you are in a crowded part of town, this is one way to ensure your customers can find the building. Choose a color that is in your logo so that it sticks with the color scheme. For example, if your logo is white and red, paint the outside a bright red instead of a traditional white.

Style

Choose a style for your building and paint it accordingly. For example, if it is a new public medical center, paint it in a modern style, making it look sleek and clean. Choose simple colors such as white and black and use simple lines. You can add accent colors as well, such as green or blue. Choosing a style also makes it more welcoming rather than a stark, uninspired paint job on a building.

Solid Colors

Solid, simple colors work for a public building as well. These are not as welcoming, but they give the building a clean, simple look. Choosing solid colors also lets the building fit in with the other buildings in the area. Some cities like their public buildings to look similar and single solid colors allow that to happen.
