Fresh paint Ceiling Stairs

Painting the underside of staircases requires a little creativity.

Painting ceiling stairs (also known as attic stairs), or the underside of staircases, is easier than you might think. The difficulty that you may be running into is the problem of reach the underside of the steps located higher up near the top of the staircase. It is in these instances that you will find that a little ingenuity will serve you well.

Instructions

1. Paint the edges of the underside of the stairs first. This will allow you to use the paint roller later to fill in the larger sections in which it will fit. Begin by painting the places that you can reach without attaching the handle to the paintbrush.

2. Attach the handle to the paintbrush by holding the brush at the end of the handle and wrapping duct tape around it two or three times. This will hold the brush in place and give you a longer reach to paint the tight corners into which the paint roller won't fit.

3. Remove the paintbrush from the handle and then wash out the brush, if necessary. When this is complete, slide the roller paint tube over the roller handle's metal wire frame and use it to paint the areas of the underside of the stairs that you can reach without the extended handle.

4. Screw the extended handle into the threaded hole in the base of the roller handle, and then paint the areas that you could not reach previously to complete the painting project. When you are finished, wash all your tools thoroughly, so that you can reuse them again.
