You can color match paint to touch up walls.
Have a large wall that needs some touching-up and don't want to spend time painting the whole thing? You can have the color matched by a professional. Only a small chip of paint is necessary to have a fresh batch of paint blended. With color matched paint you can touch-up small parts of the wall instead of repainting the entire surface.
Instructions
1. Score a shallow 2-inch line in the surface of the wall with a razor knife. Do this in an inconspicuous area of the wall, near a corner or close to the trim on the bottom, for example. You only need to cut through the paint on the wall, but will most likely you will cut down into the paper of the drywall a bit, which is acceptable.
2. Slide a razor blade behind the score at a sharp angle to the wall to peel the paint from the surface of the wall. Slide the razor 2 inches to create a 2-inch-by-2-inch square of paint.
3. Use a razor knife to score the other side of the paint chip. This will release the chip from the wall.
4. Take the paint chip to a local paint or home improvement store to have it color analyzed. A paint technician will use a computer to examine the color's qualities. The computer will generate a number code indicating which paints need to be mixed to recreate the color.
5. Purchase the amount of blended paint you will need to touch-up the painted areas in your home.
