Fix a Scratched Xbox 360 Game at Home
Xbox 360 games can become scratched from mishandling discs or leaving them outside of its case. While light scratches usually will not hamper game play, deep scratches can prevent the console from reading the game or cause it to freeze while playing. You can fix the scratches on your Xbox 360 games by first cleaning the disc and then using a substance such as toothpaste or Brasso to buff out the deeper scratches and bring your game back to playable form.
Instructions
1. Dampen a soft cloth with warm water. Grip your Xbox 360 game by the edges with the underside facing up.
2. Place the damp cloth on the center of the game disc and gently wipe out towards the edge. Rotate the disc and wipe again. Repeat until you have wiped the entire disc.
3. Place a dry, soft cloth on the center of the game disc and wipe from the middle to the edge in a straight line. Repeat until the disc is dry.
4. Squirt three drops of Brasso or a pea-sized amount of baking soda toothpaste onto the end of a dry, soft cloth.
5. Place the cloth on the center hole of the disc and wipe outward in a straight line to the edge. Wipe back toward the center of the disc over the same line. Repeat five to 10 times.
6. Rotate the disc slightly clockwise and wipe back and forth from the center to the edge of the next area of the disc. Repeat until you have worked around the entire disc.
7. Wipe away the Brasso or toothpaste with the damp cloth in the same motion as when you applied the cleaner.
8. Check the disc for lingering scratches and reapply the cleaner to those areas again. Wipe excess water and cleaner from the disc with a dry cloth.
