Choose New Bathroom Colors

Choose bathroom colors that are light and airy.

Color holds the power to affect a person's mood, and leads the way in creating the decorating style of a room. Considering how much influence color has in a room, the selection process for bathroom colors deserve a careful consideration and planning. Because everyone has a different sense of style, the right color for one bathroom won't necessarily work for a different bathroom. A coordinated color scheme in the bathroom results in a professional and coordinated look in the room. Choosing the right colors for your bathroom makes the room more enjoyable.

Instructions

1. Identify a decorating style for the bathroom color scheme. Consider the colors that work well with the style. An island retreat theme brings to mind sea green or blue. A funky bathroom might include bright colors. A country style bathroom often uses reds or blues.

2. Consider the feeling you want the bathroom to evoke in yourself and guests when choosing the bathroom decor colors. Color plays a large role in the tone of the bathroom. Choose muted colors for a relaxing environment. Choose bright colors for an invigorating atmosphere.

3. Select colors for large surfaces, such as walls and flooring. These areas are typically covered in neutral and lighter colors to avoid an overwhelming look. This also allows accent pieces to stand out amidst the bathroom decor colors.

4. Select bathroom accent colors for surfaces such as the trim, vanity countertop, shower curtains and decorative accents. These colors should complement one another as well as the wall and floor coloring. Determine how well two colors work together by holding paint chips, available at any hardware store, next to one another.

5. Choose the color and finish for the light fixtures and other metal surfaces in the bathroom. Choose a finish that works well with the other colors in the room.
