Fresh paint Gables

Use a telescoping roller extension pole.

Because gables generally sit high above the ground, many amateur painters have trouble finishing them with paint. Unless you are an experience painter, you'll likely have difficulty rolling paint onto a gable while standing on a tall extension ladder. Fortunately, you can ease the application process by utilizing a specific tool that will allow you to paint the majority of the gable while standing on the ground.

Instructions

1. Wash the gable, using a pressure washer; let the gable dry for a day.

2. Spread drop cloths below the gable. Pour 2 gallons of latex bonding primer into a 5-gallon bucket. Attach your roller frame to a telescoping roller extension pole. Dip the roller into the primer; saturate the nap cover. Raise the roller to the left side of the gable and roll vertically. Proceed left-to-right until you've primed as much of the gable as possible.

3. Let the gable dry for two hours. Pour 1/3 gallon of primer into a 1-gallon painter's pot.

4. Read the safety guide on your extension ladder. Position the ladder so you will be able to access the gable. Scale the ladder with the pot and a nylon brush in hand. Affix the pot to the side of the ladder, using a bucket hook. Touch-up the gable, using the nylon brush. Descend the ladder and move it as necessary until you've primed every portion of the gable. Let the gable dry for two hours.

5. Wash the bonding base primer from each tool, using a hose.

6. Paint the gable as you primed it. Don't use latex paint; instead finish the gable with an acrylic latex paint.
