Proper roller selection is just one way to ensure a great Dulux paint project.

Dulux produces a variety of products, from oil-based to water-based, from acrylic to enamel and most things in between. The company's paint products include specific instructions, but the Dulux Australia company provides a number of tips to make your painting project successful.
When to Paint
Like all paint products, Dulux paints are susceptible to temperature and other weather conditions. Carefully choosing an appropriate time to paint can make a positive difference in your final paint project.
Avoid painting in extreme hot or cold temperatures. For optimal adherence, apply Dulux paint only to surfaces on which the temperature is more than 50 degrees Fahrenheit (10 degrees Celsius).
Do not paint exterior surfaces if it looks like it will rain, or if the forecast predicts rain. Dulux paint must have time to dry completely before standing up to rain or intense wind.
Never paint in direct sunlight or on a surface that is extremely hot. Dulux acrylic paint will dry in 20 minutes at a temperature of 77 degrees Fahrenheit (25 degrees Celsius) with 50 percent humidity. If the weather is going to be hotter than that, the paint can dry out quickly, leaving an uneven finish or ruining your paintbrushes.
Dulux produces a hot weather thinning product to make up for weather conditions. You can also add up to 5 percent of your paint's weight in water to keep it smooth.
Mixing
Stir and mix all Dulux products well for best results. Dulux paint products will include instructions, so follow them closely.
If you are using more than one can of Dulux paint, pour the contents of both cans into a larger bucket or other container and stir well; this will ensure a proper mixture. Simply pouring one into the other will not guarantee full mixing or blending of the colors.
Preparation
Remove all wall hangings and furniture from the room, and cover the area with plastic. Mask off areas you do not want to paint with masking tape or painter's tape; remove this tape while the paint is still wet, or else you risk cracking or peeling the Dulux paint.
Moisten your brush or roller before you begin using Dulux paint. If you have chosen a water-based product, moisten the brush with water; if you are using an oil-based product, moisten with turpentine. Remove all excess liquid so that it does not mix with the paint when you dip the brush or roller.
Technique
Dulux paint dries quickly once applied. Never attempt to brush over an area that has already dried; the brush will leave uneven marks in the surface.
Flex the bristles of the brush lightly as you paint; do not press too hard. Use horizontal strokes to spread the paint and vertical strokes to finish it off; always move in the same direction.
If you are using a roller, carefully select the size of your nap. Dulux recommends a ¼- to 1/3-inch nap for gloss and semi-gloss sheens, and slightly larger nap (up to ½ inch) for low sheen or flat paints. If your wall is rough or textured, such as brick or concrete, use ¾-inch to 1 ¼-inch nap.
