Sometimes the only area you have available to hang artwork is a brick wall. While you may think it will be too difficult or destructive to hang art and other decorations on brick, it no longer requires nailing or drilling unsightly holes in the brick mortar. Instead, use a brick spring clip to avoid ruining your walls or endangering your artwork. A brick spring clip is a metal fastener that grips the top and bottom of the brick. The front of the clip has hooks to hang pictures, wreaths, holiday lights or any other form of artwork up to 25 pounds. Brick spring clips can be purchased in most hardware stores and are generally available in three different sizes.
Instructions
1. Determine what size clip to use. Using the measuring tape, measure the height of a brick in the wall on which you are going to hang your artwork. Select spring clips in the appropriate size for the brick measurements.
2. Place the bottom rim of the clip at the base of the brick you are using to hang the artwork.
3. Push the clip upward with your thumb or a screwdriver until the teeth of the clip go over the top of the brick.
4. Push the clip even against the brick.
5. Hang artwork over the hooks on the front side of the clip. Be careful not to release the artwork until you are confident the clip will hold the weight. Adjust artwork for an even look.
