Spray Equipment For Cabinets

Spray Equipment for Cabinets

There are several styles of paint sprayers available to finish cabinets. Some specialized units are for the professional painter, while others are designed with the do-it-yourself handyman in mind. The main difference in the units is how the finish and the air meet and then is applied to the work surface. Some of the units produce little over spray, making the prep work faster and easier to use in confined spaces, such as the insides of cabinets.

Airless Sprayer

Airless sprayers are the fastest sprayers. Also, the airless sprayer produces little over-spray. The airless sprayer can apply a variety of products from thin stains to heavy latex paints. This unit works with high pressure forcing the finish through the small hole in the spray gun. The spray gun creates an adjustable spray pattern. This sprayer puts a lot of material onto the surface very fast. The spray unit is self-contained and pumps the finish to a spray gun through a hose. This is the unit that most professional painters use.

Cup Sprayer

The cup sprayer is a miniature version of the airless sprayer. This sprayer is self-contained in a hand-held unit that holds the finish in a quart cup that is attached to the sprayer. This sprayer works best for smaller jobs. The cup sprayer is intended for the hobbyist or do-it-yourself handyman.

High Volume Low Pressure (HVLP) Sprayer

The HVLP sprayer uses a high volume of air to push the material into the spray nozzle. HVLP sprayers are designed to use a high volume of air at a low pressure to help break up the paint and send it into the nozzle. The HVLP sprayer also has a low-pressure volume of air that goes through the nozzle. This creates a fine pattern of material, and makes it so that there is remarkably little over spray. The HVLP sprayer has the highest level of efficiency of any of the sprayers. The HVLP sprayer has its own turbine compressor to operate the spray gun. This makes the HVLP an excellent choice for the inside of cabinets where over-spray is a problem.

HVLP Spray Gun

The HVLP spray gun uses a separate air compressor to provide the needed air pressure to operate a HVLP spray gun. The finish is in a cup that attaches to the HVLP spray gun.

Air Sprayer

Conventional air sprayers use an air compressor to provide air to a spray gun. This sprayer uses the air pressure to draw paint into the spray gun where the air and paint meet. The spray gun combines the two to create an adjustable spray pattern to create a smooth, even coverage of paint. The air sprayer can shoot a variety of finishes from stain to latex paint. Some units require you to thin the finish before it can be sprayed through this sprayer.
