Designing flyers with software on your PC is not difficult, thanks to advances in the interfaces of most desktop publisher software. Even the most basic desktop publisher comes with the tools you need to create and edit a flyer, in particular, the ability to import photos and illustrations and to alter the shape and size of text, using a wide array of available fonts.
Instructions
1. Plan the layout of your flyers, including text, photos and illustrations. The layout should be a complete mock-up of your final flyer, with final locations of all elements in place. Make sure all pertinent information is included in the text and that all graphical elements are yours to print by rights. Get permission from the graphics creator if needed.
2. Choose your desktop publishing software. The choice can largely determine the amount of work that you'll have to put into designing your flyers. Most software comes with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) interface, which allows you to place text and objects onto a digital copy of your flyer in the exact spot the flyer will print them. Many desktop publishing programs also come with a variety of ready-made templates, with common flyer types already set up, into which you can add your text and illustrations.
3. Choose a font for your text, then type in the text for your flyer. The font can be altered to your need, changing the size, look and color of your text as you go along.
4. Scan in pictures. Depending on the desktop publisher software you may be able to scan the pictures directly into the flyer, or you may need to scan them in separately. If scanned in separately, save the picture in a commonly-used PC format such as .gif, .bmp or .jpg and note the saved location. Load them into the flyer, using the desktop publisher to navigate to the location you saved the scanned picture, then selecting the file for importation into the flyer.
5. Examine the final look of your flyer by choosing the "Print preview" option in your software's "Print" menu. If the flyer needs alteration, go back into the editing section of the publisher and make any corrections. Change the font types, colors used in the flyer, positioning of the photos or illustrations as needed. If there is no print preview function available, print out a single copy of the flyer and examine it for mistakes or changes in hard copy form.
6. Save the final copy of your finished flyer to your computer for later printing, or for moving it to another location.
