Finding someone to paint your photographs is easy and relatively cheap.
Turning a photograph into a painting isn't easy. Unless you have considerable talent and time, attempts to paint your photos might not turn out as intended. Fortunately, people wanting to turn their photos into paintings have other options. Several companies offer photo-conversion services and some allow you to combine several photos into the same painting. If you don't need an actual painting, you can also get a painted look by using filters in photo-editing software.

1. Select the ideal photo. Some photos don't suit the medium of painting. Before you get started, it's important to find a suitable photo. Ensure it would look good blown up and hung on a wall.
2. Browse online companies such as Anything Painted on Canvas and Paint Your Life (See References). Compare the different companies to ensure you get the best price. Check company samples so you're positive you like the company's work.
3. Contact one of the companies that specialize in painted versions of photos by phone or email. Find out what the company offers and make sure the company has everything you want.
4. Upload your photo to your computer and send it to an appropriate company. Many companies allow you to select a style for the painting. These range from photo-realism to more stylized interpretation.
5. Try using photo-editing tools for a cheaper option. Most photo-editing programs feature oil painting filters. Open your photo. Select the painting option from the filters tab. Many programs allow you to adjust the exact specifications of this effect, making it stronger or weaker.
