Fresh paint A Residential Front yard

Chips and cracks in your driveway diminish the look of your home. In the past, the conventional solution to this unsightly problem was to demolish the driveway and start from scratch. This is a time-consuming and expensive solution. Modern technological advancements have provided other options including durable paints suitable for this application. Painting your driveway requires proper surface preparation to ensure the durability of the paint. By planning ahead and thoroughly preparing the surface you can paint your own driveway and improve the look of your home.

Instructions

1. Clean the driveway with a power-washer filled with a degreaser detergent to thoroughly clean the surface. Rinse the surface with fresh, clean water. Allow the driveway to dry completely before proceeding.

2. Fill cracks in the driveway using the appropriate type of sealant for your surface. Sealant is available for asphalt and concrete and is sold in tubes used in caulking guns. Smooth the sealant into the cracks using a putty knife.

3. Tape off expansion joints to avoid allowing paint to cover the expansion felt. Expansion joints are often found between large slabs of concrete and allow for the expansion and contraction of the concrete due to temperature changes.

4. Apply two coats of exterior grade concrete paint or asphalt sealant to the driveway. Allow the surface to dry between coats. Apply the paint using a roller or brush.
