A common door hanger
A door hanger is an informative piece of material that often bears the name of a room, or the name of a person who works inside of a room or office along with their profession. Examples of door hangers are ones that state "Utility Closet" or "John Smith - Private Investigator." While dozens of companies abound where you can order a professionally made door hanger, there's no reason why you can't make one yourself for a fraction of the price.
Instructions
1. Cut or have cut a piece of plywood to approximately 12-by-10 inches. For a more lightweight though less-durable sign, cut a piece of cardboard to these dimensions. If using plywood, drill one small hole each in the top of the right and left corners. If you opt for cardboard, create those holes by piercing the cardboard with the scissors.
2. Go outside and put on a pair of rubber gloves and protective eyewear. Spray paint the piece of plywood or cardboard one color of your choice. Hold the can of spray paint 10 inches away and make even, back-and-forth movements. Allow the board to dry completely.
3. Tape stenciled letters to the sign using painter's tape. Spray paint the letters onto the board using an alternate color of spray paint. Immediately remove the painter's tape when you finish and allow the letters to dry.
4. Cut a piece of cord or ribbon 12 inches long. Knot each end of the ribbon tightly through each hole.
