Egyptian decoration
Children and adults love Egyptian themed parties. You can have a theme party without purchasing expensive decoration sets from party stores with a bit of preparation and creativity. When you make realistic or whimsical Egyptian decorations for your party, you will delight guests of all ages.
Instructions
1. Make some signs in hieroglyphics. Go to the U Pen website (link in the Resources section below) and type in what you would like the signs to say, then print or copy it. Some suggestions, depending on the type of party, include "Happy Birthday," the name of the guest of honor, "Congratulations" or "Welcome Home."
2. Copy or reproduce Egyptian paintings to hang on your walls. You can find these at the Wall Paintings of Ancient Egypt site listed below in the Resources section or in a book at your local library.
3. Create mummies to stand in the corners of the party room. Cut large sheets of cardboard into person-shaped pieces and wrap with toilet paper. Secure the toilet paper with clear tape to avoid unraveling.
4. Bake a pyramid cake if it would be appropriate for the occasion. Some ideas for make these are in the Resources section below. If you do not want to have a cake, make pyramids out of cardboard. Paint with acrylic paint, then spread glue on the dried paint. Sprinkle with sand.
5. Use sand to decorate for an outdoor party. Make a few piles of store-bought or collected sand, and if desired, add an inflatable palm tree to each pile. For a child's party, leave plastic shovels and pails around the piles of sand, and bury plastic jewels for treasure-finding fun.
