Dilute Fresh paint For Any Sprayer

Paint sprayers can really speed up the painting process. However, under certain conditions they can be difficult to use. When the temperature is warm, paint can become thick and gummy creating problems for sprayers. Additionally, cheaper low-grade paints are often too thick and need to be diluted. If you need to dilute latex or oil-based paint for a sprayer, there are a few things you need to know before you get started.

Instructions

1. Use the metal putty knife to open the container of latex paint. Pour the latex paint into the empty 5-gallon bucket. Fill it only about two-thirds full.

2. Add 1 cup of water to the latex paint. Use mineral spirits instead of water if the paint is oil-based. Use the stir stick to thoroughly mix the paint and the water (or mineral spirits) together.

3. Dip the stir stick into the latex paint and raise it about 5 inches above the paint. Add more paint if the paint drips or runs off the stir stick quickly and appears too thin. Add more water (or mineral spirits) if the paint drips or runs from the stir stick too slowly and appears too thick.
