Earthy decorating can be fun and eco-friendly
With the trend of "going green," earth tones and natural decorations are increasingly popular in homes. Decorating your home in an earthy style while maintaining an eco-friendly d cor is very easy for you to do.
Walls and Windows
Paint your walls in earth tones using eco-friendly paint. Earth tones include various shades of brown as well as muted reds and greens. Include paintings or wall coverings of natural fibers and scenes. Window coverings should include two layers. One layer will be a gauzy curtain, designed to maximize the spread of natural light, while the outer layer is made of heavier fabric to help maintain the temperature level in the room.
Furniture
Furniture should be made of natural fibers and materials, and should fit the color scheme of the room. Your style is not limited, either. Many modern pieces are made with all-natural materials. Ask your salesperson if you are in doubt.
Floors
Wooden floors with area rugs are a great way to maintain that earthy home feel. If you do not have wooden floors, laminate flooring is much healthier for the environment than carpeting. When looking at rugs, measure the room, and decide how much of the floor area you want covered.
