Cleveland by Hand
The 2010 Art Fair SourceBook ranks Cleveland by Hand in the top 40 U.S. crafts fairs.
The Cleveland by Hand Festival is hosted by the Ohio-based By Hand Artisan Guild. The festival was ranked as one of the top 100 art fairs in the U.S. by the 2010 Art Fair SourceBook, a print and online guide to arts and crafts fairs in the U.S. The festival features home decor items, leather purses and briefcases, ceramic plates, precious metal bracelets and rings and heirloom quality wooden boxes. Artists give demonstrations of their crafts and answer questions. The Cleveland by Hand art festival is held annually at Cleveland's International Exposition (I-X) Center.

Coventry Street Arts Fair
The Cleveland Museum of Art offers hands-on activities at the Coventry Fair.
For one Thursday evening each summer, thousands of crafts lovers visit the Coventry Street Arts Fair to enjoy music, movies and hands-on art activities offered by the Cleveland Museum of Art. Because attendance at the fair can reach 12,000, the area between Mayfield Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard is closed for the event. With lots of entertainment to accompany the crafts -- jugglers, flame eaters, music bands, games, sidewalk sales, ethnic foods and even mimes -- the atmosphere can be very festive and seem almost circus-like. Parking is free in the center district's metered parking lots and garages, in addition to the free on-street parking nearby.

Cleveland Craft Coalition
Cleveland shoppers can purchase crafts in coffee shops.
The Cleveland Craft Coalition is a grass-roots group that holds events in varied locations around Cleveland. The Coalition holds monthly mini crafts fairs, often in Lakewood's Bela Dubby coffee shop. One crafter makes zombie socks, an item well suited to the group's Halloween craft show. The CCC's craft shows also offer face painting, pumpkin painting, spooky handmade items, and -- of course -- coffee. Craft-loving attendees usually reach 100.

Bazaar Bizarre Cleveland
Craft shows in Cleveland are truly unique and accommodate all tastes in craft items.
At Bazaar Bizarre Cleveland, you might find "Quilts from Hell." You could also stumble upon hand knitted drink cozies. If you are looking for a punk rock Santa, you might find it there. Bazaar Bizarre crafts shows were started in 2001 by Boston artists who were tired of the so-called "granny-church-style craft fairs." Expect over 35 different vendors with crafts, such as silk-screened paintings, handbags, assorted stained glassware, aprons and potholders.
Home and Garden Show
Hand made items are part of the Cleveland Home and Garden Show.
The Cleveland Home and Garden Show has been an annual event since 1943. It is held at the Great Lakes Expo Center in Euclid, though in past years, the show had been at the I-X Center in Cleveland. Show highlights include many gardens and a home idea center, as well as an arts and crafts show. The most recent home and garden event included a crafts make-it and take-it pavilion. Yearly themes incorporated into each show make each year's event a little different. The Home and Garden Show occurs for one full week and two weekends in January. Tickets cost $12 at the door and children 12 years or under get in free, as of October 2010. Parking is free.
