Turquoise is a shade of blue with green undertones and is named for the gem of the same color. Orange is a shade of red with yellow undertones. These two colors work well together because they're complementary colors, meaning they're opposite each other on the color wheel. Complementary colors make each color appear brighter and stronger than the colors appear when alone or next to neutral colors.
Instructions
1. Paint one wall turquoise and the remaining walls orange.
2. Choose a sofa in turquoise. Look for side chairs in prints with turquoise, orange and white fabrics. Shop at retail furniture stores or, to save money on furniture, consider thrift stores.
3. Accent the sofa with throw pillows in orange, turquoise and white. Check discount stores for inexpensive and colorful pillows.
4. Add chrome side tables with glass tops. Look for a similar coffee table.
5. Hang a large mirror above the sofa.
6. Place silver lamps on the end tables. Place a mirror on the coffee table and place white, turquoise and orange candles clustered in the middle of the mirror. Fill corners with large white vases filled with white and orange silk flowers.
