Be A Car Painter

Auto painters must be gifted artists as well as trained car mechanics to properly repair and refurnish cars.


Automobile aesthetics are important features before and after a car is sold. Automobile painters help consumers craft their motor vehicle to their liking with shiny new coats of paint or color designs. Auto painters are also needed to help damaged cars that much of its paint ruined from car accidents or minor scratches. There are a number of routes one can work toward when becoming an auto maker and there are a number of facilities one can work at in this job field.


Instructions


1. Apply for work or an apprenticeship at an auto mechanic shop. Having an apprenticeship or some background experience in motor vehicles helps a potential auto painter become accustomed to cars and repairing vehicles from accidents.


2. Attend community college or technical school for auto mechanic classes. These classes, which may last for up to two years of schooling, help train you on the specifics of car aesthetics. Knowledge on proper chemical and painting mixtures are usually taught in these classes for potential auto painters.


3. Focus on artistic training. Being an auto painter requires precision training. It is recommended to many auto painters that they should train on their general artistry skills as well as technical skills.


4. Enter a training program for automotive painting. Most businesses that provide automobile services may hire a potential candidate once the candidate completes a few short days of training with the business.


5. Complete certification training with the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. The NIASE is recognized by all auto mechanic organizations as the central certification organization for auto painters. Certification is voluntary, but offers networking and pay incentives for an auto painter. A candidate must complete a written exam after two years of working as an auto painter.
