Painting a motorcycle gas tank not only looks attractive, but it also helps protect the tank from rust.

House of Kolor paint is ideal for painting a motorcycle gas tank because of the durability and ease of use the paint has. Before painting the gas tank, it is important to prepare the gas tank for proper adhesion of the primer and paint.
Instructions
1. Run the motorcycle until it runs out of gas.
2. Disconnect all fuel lines from the gas tank. Remove the gas tank from the bottom of the motorcycle by removing the screws holding it in place. Rinse the tank with water to remove any remaining residual gas particles. Turn the gas tank upside down, and allow it to dry for about 12 hours.
3. Put on all safety gear. Take the gas tank outside or into a well-ventilated area. Sand blast all rust, dirt and old paint from the exterior of the gas tank.
4. Spray the outside, and inside of the gas tank with rust preventive spray. Bake the gas tank in a 500-degree oven for about 30 minutes. Repeat this process three times.
5. Sand the outside of the gas tank lightly with 180-grit sandpaper. Wipe away the paint residue with a damp cloth.
6. Prime the entire outside of the gas tank with House of Kolor primer. Allow the primer to dry for 2 hours. Spray the tank with a second coat of primer, and allow it to dry 2 hours as well.
7. Paint two to three coats of House of Kolor paints onto the outside of the gas tank. Allow each coat to dry for 2 hours.
8. Replace the gas tank inside the motorcycle when finished. Add gas to the tank from the gas container.
