will heat a garage to auto painting temperature.
Painting a car in the garage is a large task because of the variables that come into play. The largest of these variables is temperature. Auto paint must be applied at a temperature between 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit; if this temperature fluctuates the paint will crack and chip. The temperature can be regulated with a few simple supplies and a little testing beforehand to produce a quality paint job.
Instructions
1. Test the room thermometer to be sure it's giving accurate readings. A good place to do this is inside the home where the temperature is controlled by a thermostat. Just compare the reading on the thermometer to the reading on the thermostat and make sure they are the same.
2. Set up the four space heaters at the corners of the garage, facing them at a 90 degree angle to the wall rather than at the car to be painted.
3. Plug in the space heaters using extension cords if no outlets are available.
4. Set each space heater to heat the room to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
5. Turn the space heaters on and allow them to heat the area. After an hour the garage should be at a steady temperature.
6. Check the room thermometer. If the garage is too cool or too hot, turn the space heaters up or down in the number of degrees difference that needs to be made.
7. Allow the garage to regulate temperature for an hour and check the thermometer again. Repeat the previous step if necessary until you've reached a stable acceptable temperature.
