Marble Paint Finishes Look Great on Walls
Marble finishes aren't just for counter tops. You can also paint a wall to look like marble. Here's how:
Instructions
1. Choose three paint colors that you will use to create your marble finish. Some suggestions on paint colors include the following:
Cream, grey or silver, rust
Cream, mustard yellow, grey or silver
2. Cover all door frames, windows and molding with painter's tape to prevent painting. Also cover the floor to prevent paint splatters.
3. Paint the room entirely with two coats of your base coat. The base coat is the lightest color of paint you are using, usually cream or white.
4. Next, use the paint sponge to apply your middle color to the wall in splotches. It's best to just dab the paint on the wall instead of wiping it.
5. One the splotched layer had set for about one to two minutes, use a rag to gently smear it. You are trying to get areas of lighter and darker, as well as softening the edges.
6. Finally, using the artist brushes, apply small lines of the darkest color, usually grey, silver or brown. The lines should not be straight and do not have to connect to each other.
