Cream is a warm alternative to white that opens up a space and matches most furniture.
This might not surprise you, but many of the most common indoor paint colors are earth tones and neutrals because most of these colors create a warm and inviting, peaceful space, without clashing with the furniture, lowering resale value, shrinking the appearance of the room or darkening living spaces. If you're repainting the inside of your house and you're looking for some good ideas, these colors are a natural choice.
Beige
Beige is a light brown color that best matches other brown colors, greens, blues, creams and burgundy. Beige cooperates with most hardwood floors and leather furniture. The right shade of beige warms and lightens a room without the harshness of warm pastel colors. Some shades of beige are a little dark or drab, especially in small rooms. To find the right shade for you, paint swatches on your wall, and allow them to dry. Most paint lines provide many shades of beige to choose from.
Gray
Gray is a true neutral, meaning it's not actually a color at all; it's just a neutral. Gray stands in pleasant contrast with medium brown wood or leather furniture and brown hardwood floors, especially when trimmed or accented with white. However, gray can match almost anything. Gray mixed with a touch of yellow or copper matches warm-toned furniture and cream colors. Gray mixed with a touch of blue matches cool-colored furniture and white.
Sage
Sage is a light green or gray-green color. This sophisticated earth tone looks fantastic with cream trim and gold accents. Sage isn't as neutral as some of the other colors, but it won't clash with very much, and, as a cool color, it's very soothing, making sage an ideal color for a bedroom, where most people like to relax.
Cream
In dark or small rooms where there isn't a lot of natural light, cream can open up a space to create a sense of space that otherwise doesn't exist. Cream isn't the most exciting color, but you can make up for that by decorating the room with colorful accessories and furniture.
